Aromatic mutation of Savagnin Rose, itself a color mutation of Savagnin Blanc (Heida or Pagan in Valais), Gewürztraminer takes its name from the word Gewürz (spice in German) and Traminer (name of Savagnin in Germany). It is an early variety adapted to cool climates that is not cultivated much in Switzerland. Gewürztraminer produces intense and aromatic white wines, which remind the nose of the scent of rose, lychee and gingerbread.

The origins of Altesse are still debated. Legend has it that the grape was brought from Cyprus by a knight of the Crusades, the Count of Mareste. The most widely held theory is that the Altesse is a grape variety native to the southern shores of Lake Geneva or Savoy. This hypothesis is based on the close genetic link that exists between this variety and Chasselas and the fact that it is mainly cultivated in Savoy. L’Altesse produces noble and full-bodied wines with aromas of flowers, citrus fruits and pineapple, enhanced with notes of almonds and hazelnuts.

Originally from the Loire Valley where it is mentioned under its old name of Fiers in 1534 in the famous work Gargantua de Rabelais, Sauvignon Blanc takes its name from the wild vine whose leaves are similar. The DNA test revealed that it is a child of Savagnin Blanc, called Heida in Valais, a brother of Chenin Blanc de la Loire, and a progenitor of Cabernet Sauvignon by natural crossing with Cabernet Franc. In Switzerland, this grape variety of medium precocity, very vigorous and sensitive to gray rot, is cultivated practically in all the cantons, where it gives wines high in acidity, marked by aromas of flowers, currants, apples, fruits. passion and blackcurrant bud.
